Vibe HarslØf

Exhibition: 13.03 – 12.04 2009
Opening: 13.03, 15 pm

Parrots worn around the neck in all the colours of the rainbow, conventionalized hands that are allowed to touch the body, miniature legs made in plastic and silver that are running while they are dangling from the earlobe. This is just a few of the themes in the designer Vibe Harsløfs collection that are being shown in KBH Kunsthal.

Vibe Harsløfs jewellery are urbane and imaginative. Her universe is distinctively playful and has strong references to the graffiti and graphic design. The motivation to mix materials, make experiments with forms and work humorous with the tradition of jewellery are central in her work. Harsløf has a capacity to find long forgotten themes and materials and mix them in a new way so they get their own timeless design. The style arises from the Scandinavian formalism where the expression is simple and pure. The designs must be wearable, but every collection should also include ideas to how jewellery can challenge established concepts of what a piece of accessory is.

After Harsløf got her certificate from Meisterschule für Handwerk in Kaiserslautern in Germany and established herself as a independent designer, has her design been seen in various contexts. She has for instance made stage pieces for the singer Camille Jones and the group JaConfetti. She has made several jewellery collections to the English designer house Paul Smith, the Danish designer houses Woodwood and Pilgrim. Her jewelleries are sold in selected designer stores in Tokyo, Paris, London and Berlin. Vibe Harsløf lives and works in Copenhagen.
