REYKJAVIK TOUR

Graphic design has been on a field trip as far north as Reykjavik. The visit was sunny, rainy, cold and windy, but also exotic and unique. A small but energetic capital.
I addition to galleries and museums we visited graphic designers: Atli Hilmarsson Studio, Guðmundur Úlfarsson, an advertising agency Jónsson & Le'macks, a big game producer an the city's art academy. And everything fitted together as a food chain and conveyed an impression of what exactly makes Reykjavik a special place.
Included was also a visit to Reykjavik's new sculptural concert hall Harpa, designed i collaboration between architects Henning Larsen and the artist Ólafur Elíasson.
As well as Harpa the city's venues, hostels and music stores were the setting for the music festival Iceland Airwaves. This meant that everywhere in the city you could hear short, intimate concerts of different icelandic music. A fantastic addition to the tour program, which reinforced the impression of having come to a very special town in the middle of a magnificent scenery.
