AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam is a good place to study graphic design.
In the autumn terms' study trip we were lucky with visits to interesting graphic design studios, representing an approach to the field less commercial than usual. They presented graphic design as less depending on the client, rather as a personal matter closely related to art or literature.
It is usually difficult to find good relevant exhibitions showing graphic design, but a retrospective of the designer Irma Booms books and a large collection of exhibition posters in the Stejdelik Museum were good examples.
All in all a succesful trip together with a sweet and inspired class.
