HAPPENINGS

A workshop by Jonathan vanDyke – american artist

To conclude their painting and performance workshop, the students break into two groups and present live "Happenings" to the entire school. The two Happenings occur simultaneously, one inside and one outside. Inside, five women, all dressed in black, continuously feed white yogurt to a man sitting on a stool. They move in a circular pattern that is also seen in the design of the stage. Outside, a group of painters in white uniforms paint a graffiti wall completely white. A man dressed in black arrives on a bicycle. He spray paints colorful figures and words on the white walls, and the painters move quickly to paint over these.
